Apple has finally entered the foldable phone market, and Pakistani buyers do not have to wait months for it. The iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone, has officially launched in Pakistan through Mercantile Pakistan, the company’s authorised distributor in the country. The best part is the timing: the phone went on sale in Pakistan on 23 October 2026, the exact same day as its global launch. That means local buyers get the phone at the same time as the rest of the world, with full PTA approval and an official Apple warranty included.
The iPhone Duo was first announced on 9 September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at Apple’s “Surprise and Shine” event. Pre-orders opened on 16 October, and general availability started on 23 October in the US and more than 70 other countries, including Pakistan. One thing to keep in mind is that local availability is described as limited stock, so early buyers may need to move fast before the first batch sells out.
Official Price Starts at Rs 899,999
The official iPhone Duo price in Pakistan starts at Rs 899,999 for the 256GB model. Mercantile has announced a full four-variant price ladder, and every variant comes with 12GB RAM. Here is the complete official price list:
| Variant | Official Price in Pakistan |
|---|---|
| iPhone Duo 256GB (12GB RAM) | Rs 899,999 |
| iPhone Duo 512GB (12GB RAM) | Rs 980,000 |
| iPhone Duo 1TB (12GB RAM) | Rs 1,145,000 |
| iPhone Duo 2TB (12GB RAM) | Rs 1,390,000 |
The top 2TB model costs Rs 490,001 more than the base 256GB model, so storage choice makes a big difference to the final bill. In the US, the Duo starts at $1,999 for 256GB, with the 512GB at $2,199, the 1TB at $2,599 and the 2TB at $3,199.
To put the Pakistan price in perspective, the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at Rs 605,000 in Pakistan, which means the Duo’s base model costs Rs 294,999 more than Apple’s top regular flagship. The iPhone 18 Pro starts from Rs 565,000, and both of those phones were also introduced in Pakistan on day one by Mercantile.
PTA Approved With Official Apple Warranty
Every iPhone Duo unit sold by Mercantile in Pakistan is duty-paid and PTA approved. This is a big relief for buyers, because it means you do not have to arrange any separate PTA approval or pay any extra tax after buying the phone. The SIM will work on all Pakistani networks straight out of the box.
On top of that, every unit carries a one-year official Apple warranty. Mercantile says Apple products sold through its distribution network come with an official 12-month warranty, so if anything goes wrong with your phone, you are covered through proper channels instead of relying on a shopkeeper’s promise.
Mercantile’s CEO for Pakistan, Nauman Durrani, marked the launch by saying the milestone reflects the company’s commitment to making sure customers in Pakistan experience the very best of Apple at the same time as the rest of the world. For Pakistani Apple fans who are used to waiting weeks or months for official stock, a same-day launch is a welcome change.
Expected Price vs Actual Price
If you have been following iPhone Duo price news before the launch, you may have seen much lower numbers, and those reports are now outdated. Before the official announcement, price trackers were expecting the base PTA-approved model to cost around Rs 744,999 to Rs 787,100 in Pakistan. The actual official price of Rs 899,999 is clearly higher than those early expectations.
Some early reports even claimed Pakistan would not be a launch country at all and that no official price existed. That changed on 23 October, when Mercantile announced the launch with full pricing on global launch day. So if you are comparing prices online, make sure you are looking at the official Mercantile price and not an old expected figure or a retailer’s own pre-order price.
Two Screens, Including the Largest Ever on an iPhone
The iPhone Duo opens up to a 7.6-inch inner display, which is the largest screen ever fitted to an iPhone. When the phone is folded, you get a 5.4-inch cover display for everyday tasks like calls, messages and quick replies. The layout is wider than the tall, narrow style of earlier foldable phones, and that wider shape suits watching video much better.
The inner screen uses an under-display camera, so there is no punch-hole or notch cutting into your movies and games. Both screens support the Apple Pencil, which is a first for an iPhone and opens the door to note-taking, sketching and document signing on the big inner display. The inner display resolution is listed at up to 1878 x 2670 pixels.
Apple has also worked on the crease problem that foldable phones are known for. The Duo uses a nanotexture finish that reduces how visible the crease is where the screen folds. Reports differ on the hinge and frame materials, with some describing a grade 5 aluminium hinge and others describing a titanium build, so that detail is best treated as not fully settled for now.
Performance: A20 Pro Chip and eSIM Only
The iPhone Duo runs on Apple’s A20 Pro chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 18 Pro models, paired with Apple’s 7-core graphics. Performance should be flagship level for gaming, video editing and multitasking across the two screens. The phone also uses Apple’s own C2 modem for connectivity.
One important change for Pakistani buyers is that the iPhone Duo is eSIM-only. There is no physical SIM slot at all. All major Pakistani networks now offer eSIM, so you can activate your Jazz, Zong, Telenor or Ufone number digitally, but you should arrange your eSIM before or right after buying the phone so you are not left without service.
Cameras: Two 48MP Lenses, No Telephoto
For cameras, the iPhone Duo carries two 48MP rear cameras: a main camera and an ultrawide camera. There is no telephoto lens, which is something to note if you love zoom photography, because rivals in this price range usually offer one.
Video is a strong area. The Duo can record 4K video at 120 frames per second and also supports 4K time-lapse capture. A fun feature called Dual Capture lets you record from the rear camera and the inner camera at the same time during FaceTime calls, so your reaction and the scene in front of you are both captured in one video.
Design, Battery Claims and Security
Folded open, the iPhone Duo is just 5.2mm thick, making it the thinnest iPhone so far. Folded shut, it measures 11.3mm, and it weighs 254 grams. The phone comes in two colours, Star White and Night Sky, and it is listed with IP68 water and dust resistance.
On battery, Apple claims up to 44 hours of video playback when using the outer display, up to 31 hours on the inner display, and up to 24 hours when both screens are used equally. These are Apple’s own claimed figures, so real-world battery life will depend on your usage, network and screen brightness.
For security, the Duo uses Touch ID built into the side button. There is no Face ID on this phone. You can also unlock the phone with an Apple Watch if you own one, which is handy when the phone is sitting on a desk.
Watch Out: Higher Retailer Prices and Unconfirmed PTA Tax
Before you pay anyone, be careful about which price you are looking at. At least one retailer, TeleX (Telemart), has been taking PTA-approved pre-orders at Rs 999,599 for the 256GB model, with delivery quoted for the last week of November. That is one retailer’s pre-order price, and it sits Rs 99,600 above the official Mercantile price of Rs 899,999. The official price is the one announced by Apple’s authorised distributor, so do not treat a retailer’s higher pre-order figure as the phone’s real price.
You may also see cheaper non-PTA offers, such as grey-market pre-orders around Rs 730,000 for the 256GB model. These are not directly comparable with the Mercantile price. A non-PTA phone still needs PTA tax paid before its SIM works in Pakistan, and such listings do not come with a confirmed official local warranty.
About that PTA tax: if you import a Duo yourself, the tax amount is currently unconfirmed. One tracker lists a flat Rs 323,000 on passport and Rs 353,000 on CNIC for all variants, while another projects roughly Rs 155,000 to Rs 264,000 depending on the variant and notes that FBR has not yet published a customs value for the Duo. Because the estimates conflict this badly, do not rely on either figure. The amount on your actual DIRBS tax slip is the final one. None of this affects Mercantile stock, which is sold already PTA approved.
Should You Buy It?
The iPhone Duo is clearly a premium, first-generation product, and its price puts it far beyond regular flagships. But for buyers who want the official route, the package is strong: same-day availability as the US, duty-paid PTA-approved stock, and a one-year official Apple warranty. Market watchers at IDC expect Apple could ship more than 17 million foldable iPhones by 2027, taking nearly 40 percent of the global foldable market, so this first Duo is likely the start of a long series. If you plan to buy, stick to authorised channels, confirm you are paying the official price, and sort out your eSIM in advance.
The launch and official pricing were reported by ProPakistani, which covered Mercantile’s Pakistan announcement on global launch day, 23 October 2026.
