Millions of Pakistanis opened a JazzCash wallet once — for a single payment, a one-off transfer, or a promotion — and then never used it again. If you are one of them, there is good news: the quiet monthly charge that used to eat into forgotten wallets is gone.
From 12 October 2026, the JazzCash inactivity fee is Rs 0. Here is what the fee was, what exactly changed, what a quiet wallet can still cost you, and how to check your own account in a couple of minutes.
What the Inactivity Fee Was
Under the old schedule, JazzCash charged Rs 100 per month (plus tax) on any wallet that had shown no activity in the previous 12 months.
That may sound small, but do the maths: Rs 100 a month is Rs 1,200 a year, plus tax, taken from a wallet you were not even using. For a small forgotten balance — a few hundred rupees left over from an old transaction — the fee was easily enough to empty the wallet completely over time, without the owner ever noticing.
What Changed on 12 October 2026
Mobilink Microfinance Bank, which runs JazzCash, issued memo Inst./45/2026, setting the inactivity fee to Rs 0 from 12 October 2026. The change is reflected in JazzCash’s own schedule of charges for October–December 2026, which was checked on 20 October 2026.
In plain words: from 12 October 2026 onwards, JazzCash no longer charges you anything simply for leaving your wallet unused. If you ever see an “inactivity fee” dated 12 October 2026 or later on your account, that charge is worth disputing — see the checking steps below.
What Happens to a Dormant Wallet Now
Your leftover balance no longer shrinks by Rs 100 every month just because you stopped using the wallet. A dormant JazzCash account now simply sits there with its balance intact.
But do not confuse “no inactivity fee” with “no charges at all.” A quiet wallet can still attract other scheduled charges — especially if you once ordered a debit card with it.
What a Quiet Wallet Still Costs
Based on the October–December 2026 schedule of charges:
| Charge | Amount |
|---|---|
| Inactivity fee | Rs 0 (from 12 October 2026) |
| PayPak debit card annual fee | Rs 299 |
| Mastercard / Visa debit card annual fee | Rs 99 |
| App / USSD platform fee | Rs 1 per transaction |
| ATM cash-out | Rs 35 (including tax) |
| Utility, postpaid and internet bill payment via wallet | Rs 0 (this quarter) |
The important detail is the debit card. The annual card fee applies unless the card is permanently blocked — only permanently blocked cards are exempt. So if your forgotten wallet has a live JazzCash debit card attached to it, that Rs 299 or Rs 99 annual fee can still land even though the inactivity fee is gone.
How to Check Your JazzCash Wallet
This takes a few minutes, and checking your statement is free:
- Open the JazzCash app and log in with your MPIN. If you no longer remember it, use the reset option inside the app.
- Check your current balance — you may be pleasantly surprised by what is still there.
- Open the mini statement and scan the recent history for “inactivity fee” deductions, so you know what was taken in the past.
- If you find an inactivity fee dated 12 October 2026 or later, call the JazzCash helpline on 111-118-000 and quote memo Inst./45/2026.
How to Make Your Wallet Active Again
If you want to start using the wallet again, any normal transaction makes it active — a mobile load, a transfer, or a bill payment. Paying utility, postpaid or internet bills through the wallet is listed at Rs 0 in this quarter’s schedule, so a simple bill payment costs you nothing extra.
In practice: open the app, log in, and complete one small transaction. Your wallet is back in regular use. And because the inactivity fee is now Rs 0 anyway, there is no penalty clock ticking if you then leave it alone again.
Will Past Fees Be Refunded?
Honestly: nobody has promised that. The memo sets the fee to zero from 12 October 2026 — it says nothing about refunding fees that were charged before that date.
So treat any social media claim about automatic refunds of old inactivity fees as unverified unless JazzCash itself announces it. What the memo does give you is solid ground to dispute any inactivity charge dated 12 October 2026 or later, using the helpline and the memo number above.
Keep the Wallet or Leave It?
- Keeping it costs nothing in inactivity fees now. A spare wallet is genuinely useful for bill payments, which are Rs 0 through the wallet this quarter.
- Got a debit card you never use? Permanently block it. That is the only way to stop its annual fee — Rs 299 for PayPak or Rs 99 for Mastercard/Visa.
- Comparing with Easypaisa? Easypaisa’s October–December 2026 schedule has no inactivity fee line either, so on this particular charge both wallets are now even.
FAQs
Q: Has the JazzCash inactivity fee really been removed?
Yes. Mobilink Microfinance Bank’s memo Inst./45/2026 sets the fee to Rs 0 from 12 October 2026, and the change appears in JazzCash’s own schedule of charges for October–December 2026 (checked on 20 October 2026). The old charge was Rs 100 per month plus tax on wallets with no activity in the previous 12 months.
Q: I was charged an inactivity fee after 12 October 2026. What should I do?
Call the JazzCash helpline on 111-118-000 and quote memo Inst./45/2026. That memo sets the inactivity fee to Rs 0 from 12 October 2026, so a charge dated on or after that day should not have been applied. You can see the charge in your mini statement in the JazzCash app, which is free to view.
Q: Will I get back the inactivity fees deducted before 12 October 2026?
There is no announcement of that. The memo only sets the fee to Rs 0 from 12 October 2026 and says nothing about refunds for earlier deductions. Unless JazzCash officially announces a refund policy, assume past fees stay deducted — and be wary of anyone on social media promising otherwise.
Q: Does a dormant JazzCash wallet cost anything now?
Not in inactivity fees — that charge is Rs 0. The exception is a linked debit card: the annual fee (Rs 299 for PayPak, Rs 99 for Mastercard/Visa) still applies unless the card is permanently blocked. Normal transaction charges, such as the Rs 1 app/USSD platform fee and Rs 35 ATM cash-out, only apply when you actually use the wallet.
